Coronavirus prompts firms to require more services from PH

The coronavirus epidemic that is having an impact on nearly all parts of the world has not seriously affected the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry in the Philippines. In fact, some BPO firms here have seen more service requests from international clients.
According to Bong Borja, president of Alorica Asia, more BPO companies are considering setting up business continuity plans in the Philippines after feeling the effects of the coronavirus on their businesses. Borja said local firms have not seen any fallback from global clients as more companies are requiring additional services, such as having Chinese personnel.
The British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines also expressed confidence that the country’s businesses will be able to weather the effects of the virus. Next week, the chamber is set to hold a trade mission in the Philippines.
