Two fake Indian call centers busted

Two illegal call centers operating in Gurugram, India, got busted by the Chief Minister’s flying squad. According to the Gurugram Police, they have busted more than 25 fake call center rackets which were being run in the area this year till December 13.
The call centers duped US nationals on the pretext of redeemed US$1,000 to 5,000 gift coupons being used to charge US$100 to 500 as service charge per client.
The police have recovered Rs 8.50 lakh (US$11,514) and two laptops and a hard-disk along with other electronic gadgets.
“These fake call centers have cheated several US citizens on the pretext of providing gift coupons. The youths were employed at the call centers, which were being operated without a license issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT),” said Inderjeet ACP, (CM flying squad).
“The matter is under investigation. How the accused was operating the fake call center it’s a part of an investigation. The involvement of other people cannot be ruled out,” the officer added.
