Tech Mahindra to reduce up to 5k staff due to automation

Major IT-BPO firm Tech Mahindra is set to reduce its headcount by 5,000 to 38,000 this year, as larger parts of their tasks were completed through automation and artificial intelligence.
In the December quarter of 2020, the company reported that they reduced about 2,500 people in its overall headcount. Tech Mahindra also reported an 11 per cent increase in the BPS (business process services) revenues as compared to the preceding quarter.
The firm’s BPS President Ritesh Idnani said that Tech Mahindra is cannibalizing its existing revenues through automation and delivering desired outcomes for the customers.
