Senators push for bill taxing POGOs
Philippine senators are pushing for the passage of the Senate Bill No. 1295 taxing Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) in the country, saying that this will help the government generate badly-needed funds in this time of pandemic.
Bill author and Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto said the POGO sector can generate P38 billion for the government, since “it is as huge as the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector in the country.”
The finance department also noted that POGOs are “considered under tapped sources of revenues for the cash-strapped government.
