Business owners survey indicate “greater optimism” – BSP

The latest Business Expectation Survey’s results indicate “greater optimism” for business owners this 2021, said the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
The Confidence Index (CI) for Q1 of 2021 climbed to 17.4 per cent from 2020 Q4’s 10.6 per cent. In addition, the CI for Q2 2021 is also optimistic, as it went up to 42.8 per cent from 37.4 per cent.
The business outlook for the Philippine economy is also “more upbeat” as the CI rose to 60.5 per cent from the previous quarter’s 57.7 per cent.
“The overall Confidence Index for Q1 and Q2 both posted increases from previous quarter survey results,” the BSP said in a statement. The Business Expectation Survey has 1,512 respondent firms nationwide for Q1 2021.
