Jamaica-based BPO firm reports COVID-19 outbreak

Jamaica-based Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firm Advantage Communications Inc. (ACI) has reported an outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in its offices.
ACI Regional Site Director Celina Hendricks said that the outsourcing company currently has 16 positive cases, with six of them showing no symptoms this week. Meanwhile, 65 workers are waiting for the results of their COVID-19 tests.
A report by The Gleaner stated that the virus was first transmitted from a group of 18 ACI trainees.
In an interview, Hendricks shared that they have had “on and off” infections since the pandemic started last March 2020. “We’ve been reporting to the Ministry of Health,” Hendricks added.
Over 60% of ACI’s 2,000 employees are working remotely. More than 100 staffers have already received their vaccines through the company’s inoculation drive over the last two weeks.
