DOLE to endorse pay-hike bill for HCWs

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) plans to endorse a bill recommending a salary increase of healthcare workers (HCW) in private hospitals, said Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III.
In an online press briefing, Bello said that the agency aims to give HCWs better working conditions with the proposed legislation so their benefits will be the same as those enjoyed by their public sector counterparts.
The labor secretary added that he is confident in the passing of the bill before the end of the Duterte administration since it is being supported by the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) and several Philippine legislators.
DOLE’s proposed bill is expected to benefit around 200,000 employees in the healthcare sector.
