PH firms to hire more workers in Q4
Philippine companies are planning to hire more employees in Q4 despite the lingering effects of the pandemic, said Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) Third-Quarter Business Expectations Survey.
The survey’s employment outlook index improved by 6.2% for Q4 compared to the previous quarter’s 5%. Index for the next 12 months also grew by 24.3% from the former 14.7% figure.
The third-quarter 2021 Business Expectations Survey was conducted from July 22 to Sept. 15 with over 1,500 firms as participants — including 584 companies in the National Capital Region (NCR) and 927 firms in areas outside the capital.
Meanwhile, businesses with expansion plans for the next quarter dropped to 9.6% from Q2’s 21.1%. Companies with expansion targets next year also declined 27.3% from 27.8% in the previous survey.
