Sri Lanka to be developed as a green IT-BPM destination

Sri Lanka’s national Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) chamber SLASSCOM disclosed its plans to position the country as a global sustainable IT-BPM destination through its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiative
During ESG’s lunch, it was announced that industry leaders collectively made this pledge and committed themselves to “prioritizing and championing environmental, social and governance across their organizations”.
SLASSCOM collaborated with the United Nations in Sri Lanka and Global Compact Network Sri Lanka to create the ESG strategy that would be implemented into the industry’s overall multi-year strategy.
SLASSCOM’s Chairperson Sandra De Zoysa said that they are keen to see their ESG initiative as a key differentiator that will position Sri Lanka “as innovative and sustainable solutions and service provider” in the global marketplace.
UN Resident Coordinator Hanaa Singer-Hamdy stated that they are “pleased to collaborate” in creating a sustainable strategy that will boost the IT-BPM sector’s growth and deliver “positive economic, social and environmental impact to Sri Lanka and to the global value chains it is part of.”
