29% of PH BPO jobs are coming from the provinces

About 29% of the 1.44 million Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) employees in the Philippines are located in the provinces, said IT Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).
In a report, IBPAP stated that this figure showed that more BPO companies are investing in provinces to leverage cost efficiency, digitalization, and talent availability.
Back in 2016, IT-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) employment outside the National Capital Region was just around 270,000 or 24%.
IBPAP’s data highlighted the cities of Bacolod, Cebu, Clark, Davao, and Iloilo, as the most in-demand locations outside the capital region.
IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid also noted that most of these locations are considered to be “emerging cities” due to their drive for digitalization.
He also cited that the partnership of the industry and the local government units through the local ICT councils are “transforming the countryside” and attracting more investors.
“Certainly this has begun to create hubs across our provinces and leveraging the immense potential of our countryside locations as well as talent,” Madrid concluded.
