Enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, agility key to upskilling employees

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Reinforcing employees’ critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and agility is a crucial component in upskilling the workforce according to Ricart Valvekens, TDCX employer value proposition (EVP) for the Philippines and the Americas.
“Those three are the top skills that are needed by 2025 as identified by World Economic Forum so we have a huge infrastructure to address those topics.” said Valvekens in an interview with ANC’s Market Watch.
TDCX, a Manila-based outsourced digital customer experience provider invests in employee development, believing that this is crucial to competitiveness.
“They want a digital-first and a digital-fast experience and they want a lot of choices,” explained Valvekens.
He also said that with the emergence of technology like machine learning and artificial intelligence, most menial tasks are taken away from human employees. Valvekens said that because of this workers are expected to take on more complex tasks.
“What is left for people to take care of are more complex tasks,” Valvekens said.
This said, he said, TDCX provides trainings that help reinforce and develop their employees’ skills.
He also noted that in the competitive environment of the information technology business process management (IT-BPM) industry investing in employee engagement keeps companies relevant and competitive.
“There is indeed a lot of competition but I think there is an evolution in the IT-BPM industry where companies understand that it is important to invest in employee experience,” he said.
