Accenture acquires AI firm Flutura

BANGALORE, INDIA — Outsourcing giant Accenture has completed its acquisition of Flutura, a Bangalore-based industrial artificial intelligence (AI) firm, in a move aimed at strengthening its AI services for clients in energy, chemicals, metals, mining, and pharmaceutical industries. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Flutura’s AI platform offers solutions for engineering teams to assess, predict, and improve the asset performance and energy efficiency outcomes of production and manufacturing facilities.
Accenture’s acquisition of Flutura, which was initially announced in March, aligns with the company’s announcement two weeks ago to invest $3 billion in data and AI practices over the next three years.
The IT giant is ambitiously targeting to double its AI service workforce to 80,000 through hiring, acquisitions, and training. Its recent acquisitions include data science company ALBERT in Japan; Analytics8 in Australia; Sentelis in France; Bridgei2i and Byte Prophecy in India; Pragsis Bidoop in Spain; Mudano in the UK; and Clarity Insights, End-to-End Analytics and Core Compete in the U.S.
In the past four months, Accenture secured around $100 million worth of generative AI projects. These AI-related projects account for 0.6% of the firm’s US$17.2 billion deal wins from March to May.
Accenture is currently ranked #1 in the Time Doctor OA500, an index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing firms and a vital tool in assisting the BPO decision-making community.
