AI reshapes UK job market, doubling demand

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — The influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the United Kingdom (UK) job market is rapidly increasing, according to new data from LinkedIn’s Global Talent Trends report.
Job postings mentioning AI or generative AI more than doubled between July 2021 and July 2023, with the UK seeing a 2.3 times rise.
This surge in AI job postings spans industries, with roles ranging from direct AI development to positions requiring AI skills, like digital product management. LinkedIn data shows AI job postings received 17% more applicants over the past two years.
Professionals are eager to gain AI skills, with 76% of UK workers excited to use AI on the job and 45% wanting to learn more. In response, businesses seek HR teams to spearhead AI training and workforce adaptation.
“AI is reshaping the world of work, and the technology holds huge potential to support employees across a range of different jobs, companies and industries,” said Becky Schnauffer, LinkedIn Head of Global Clients.
“To make the most out of this technology’s potential, businesses are assessing the skills they’ll need both now and in the future – leaning on their HR teams to make sure they have the talent and skills they’ll need.”
To assist in this transition, LinkedIn is introducing new AI recruiting tools like Recruiter 2024, which utilizes natural language and LinkedIn data to enhance hiring efficiency and candidate recommendations.
