KINGSTON, JAMAICA — Yoni Epstein, founding Chairman and CEO of itel, received Jamaica’s Order of Distinction for expanding the country’s business process outsourcing (BPO) sector.

The government presented Epstein with the Commander class honor during the National Heroes Day ceremony on October 16th.

In his acceptance speech, Epstein thanked his team, saying their collaboration enabled the company’s achievements over the past decade.

“I will continue to serve and show others that there is no limit to what can be achieved when we work together,” he remarked.

Since starting itel in Montego Bay in 2012, Epstein grew Jamaica’s BPO workforce from 12,000 to 60,000.

Under Epstein, itel expanded across the region, including Guyana, Honduras, Colombia, and Belize. Last year, operations started in the United States.

Over nine years, itel made key acquisitions like the Guyana-based Emerge buyout in 2021.

Epstein also put excellent employee experience and social responsibility at the forefront of itel’s priorities as the company renewed its partnership with Jamaican media personality Miss Kitty.

The firm has also earned several awards and recognitions, including the Everest Group and Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ).

Aside from founding and growing itel, Epstein helped start GSAJ to advance Jamaica’s outsourcing industry.

“All the challenges and sacrifices were worth it because I’ve been able to make things happen for my community and my country, but it also reminds me that there is still so much more to do,” said Epstein.

itel is the Caribbean’s largest homegrown provider of CX delivery solutions. It is listed in Outsource Accelerator’s (OA) Global Outsourcing Firm (BPO) Index, a vital tool in assisting the BPO decision-making community with a broad but objective industry assessment.
