New pediatric hospital campus to open in Dallas
TEXAS, UNITED STATES — Children’s Health and the UT Southwestern Medical Medical Center have joined forces to construct a pediatric health campus in Dallas, dubbed as one of the largest and most innovative hospital system for kids in the United States.
The $5 billion project aims to meet the growing demand for pediatric care, research, and training. Dallas Fort Worth’s population is expected to grow to 8.5 million by 2028, up 600,000 from 2020. The current North Texas pediatric population of 2.5 million is expected to double by 2050.
The two institutions expect the pediatric campus to open in the next six to seven years.
The 33.7-acre facility will comprise a two-million-square-foot hospital, 114 emergency department rooms, 552 inpatient beds, a 96-exam-room outpatient facility, a 96-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and two helicopter pads, among others.
The hospital will have two 12-story towers and one eight-story tower to replace the existing Children’s Medical Center Dallas, per Becker’s Hospital Review.
