Virtua Health launches AI-powered nursing platform

NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES — Healthcare firm Virtua Health teamed up with software company care.ai to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) nursing platform.
The software aims to streamline the patient journey from routine admission and discharge activities to documentation, fall prevention, and clinician safety.
It will also enable floor nurses to focus on patient interaction while the virtual nurse takes care of administrative tasks such as data entry. The patient’s welfare remains a top priority as AI sensors in the rooms keep an eye on them at all times.
“Our focus is not just on integrating cutting-edge technologies, but on enhancing the human aspects of healthcare,” Michael Capriotti, Virtua Health’s senior vice president of integration and strategic operations, said.
“By swiftly adopting optical cameras and ambient sensors, we’re poised to markedly enhance the patient and care team experience, ensuring a safer, more efficient, and empathically connected healthcare experience.”
The initiative aims to address the healthcare staffing shortage crippling America. According to a survey by compensation software and data company Payscale, medical workers are resigning due to stress and burnout.
Virtua Health noted that the system will give older nurses an opportunity to stay in the workforce.
