Cognizant and Microsoft collaborate to improve healthcare services

NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES — Outsourcing firm Cognizant and tech giant Microsoft have joined forces to integrate artificial intelligence technologies into healthcare administration systems.
Specifically, TriZetto — Cognizant’s software for healthcare firms — will leverage Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service and Semantic Kernel.
With TriZetto and Microsoft’s capabilities combined, healthcare firms will have access to critical data to drive innovation, the ability to automate data, improved regulatory compliance, and enhanced data security.
The TriZetto Assistant on Facets automates various administrative tasks, boasting higher accuracy and faster processing time. Generative AI can also interpret configurations and provide templates to accelerate workflows.
This will enable healthcare providers to focus on patient care. The U.S. healthcare system is facing a workforce shortage dilemma, with physicians and nurses leaving the profession or retiring early due to stress and burnout.
Organizations have been outsourcing their talent pool or installing the latest AI technologies to plug in the gaps.
“Generative AI is having a profound and transformational impact on every industry, including healthcare,” said Rob Dahdah, CVP of Microsoft’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry and Partner Sales organization.
“Working in close partnership with Cognizant, we are building state-of-the art solutions that alleviate the acute challenges facing providers and insurance companies, while also delivering better patient and member experiences.
This marks Cognizant’s second initiative in the healthcare industry this year. In January, the business process outsourcing firm was tapped by contract research organization (CRO) Fortrea.
Cognizant ranked #6 in the 2024 OA500, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.
