Uzbekistan boosts IT sector with green data center project

TASHKENT, UZBEKISTAN — To strengthen its IT sector, Uzbekistan has commenced the construction of its pioneering “Green” Data Center.
This venture is a key component of the nation’s “Uzbekistan – 2030” digital strategy, which aims to catapult the country into the league of economically advanced nations through technological advancements.
Phased development for enhanced digital infrastructure
The DATAVOLT data center, a collaborative effort with Saudi Arabia’s DATAVOLT, is set to revolutionize Uzbekistan’s digital landscape.
The project, unveiled at the 3rd Tashkent International Investment Forum, is designed to unfold in three phases.
Initially, it will boast a 10 MW capacity with a focus on green energy solutions, particularly for Artificial Intelligence applications.
The subsequent phases will expand the facility’s capacity significantly, aiming to establish Uzbekistan as a central IT hub in the region.
With its emphasis on green energy and cutting-edge technology, the project is poised to not only boost the national economy but also enhance the quality of life for Uzbek citizens through job creation and technological advancement.
