Egypt to train 800K tech workers in 2026 to feed global demand

CAIRO, EGYPT — Egypt is targeting 800,000 ICT-trained workers in 2026 under a nationally coordinated MCIT program — one of the largest state-funded digital talent mobilizations in the EMEA region.

According to a press release from ITIDA, the effort draws on a population of more than 110 million and an annual university graduate output of 750,000 to build the country’s position as a scalable offshore delivery destination.

Egypt’s 800k training target anchors offshoring push

The national target is delivered through ITIDA, the Information Technology Institute (ITI), the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), and the Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) — operating under MCIT’s fully funded Digital Egypt Generations initiative.

The ITIDA-NTI summer training program — targeting 10,000 university students at 120 hours of structured instruction across AI, cybersecurity, software development, and digital marketing — is the ecosystem’s most direct pipeline to operational readiness for global enterprise clients.

ITIDA’s Train to Hire model aligns training outcomes directly with corporate vacancies, implemented in coordination with local and multinational technology companies rather than leaving graduates to find placements independently.

“Together, these efforts form an integrated pipeline designed to equip talent with market-relevant skills and align workforce capabilities with global technology demand,” ITIDA stated.

Egypt offshoring exports target $6Bn in 2026

Egypt’s offshoring services exports reached an estimated $5.2 billion in 2025; MCIT’s 2026 target is $6 billion — an increase that assumes both pipeline expansion and higher-value delivery mandates from existing clients.

The ITIDA-DXC Dandelion Program adds neurodivergent workers to the talent pool, developing specialized digital skills in a population segment that global enterprises increasingly seek for structured data, quality assurance, and detail-intensive BPO functions.

Egypt’s geographic position — connecting Europe, the Middle East, and Africa — combined with a multilingual workforce and competitive cost structures makes the country a natural fit for delivery mandates requiring multi-regional time zone coverage.

An 800,000-person national training target, backed by MCIT funding and coordinated across university and specialist institute delivery channels, gives Egypt a supply-side advantage that markets relying on private sector training investment alone cannot replicate at equivalent scale.

MCIT described the 800,000-person goal as “a coordinated, state-wide effort to rapidly scale digital capabilities” aimed at establishing Egypt as “the most scalable delivery destination for the international IT offshoring industry.”

For BPO and IT services operators evaluating EMEA delivery expansion, Egypt’s state-coordinated training scale is a supply-side signal that the country is building capacity ahead of buyer demand.

A $6 billion exports target and 800,000 workers in active training position Egypt as one of the more credible nearshore delivery alternatives in the current cycle.
