Accenture to boost federal offerings with Cognosante purchase
VIRGINIA, UNITED STATES — Accenture Federal Services (AFS) is set to acquire IT services and consulting firm Cognosante, which will boost its services to federal health, defense, intelligence, and civilian agencies.
Accenture, Cognosante to support U.S. federal government
This strategic move aims to enhance AFS’s capabilities in delivering innovative technology solutions to support the unique missions of the U.S. federal government.
Cognosante’s team of over 1,500 professionals joins AFS’s workforce of more than 14,000 employees.
The combined entity aims to reimagine how work gets done, solve critical challenges, and create meaningful change for federal agencies and the citizens they serve.
Cognosante was founded in 2008 by Michele Kang. The company’s expertise involves providing exceptional user experiences, improving healthcare accessibility, and maximizing the value of federal investments through its cloud modernization and migration capabilities.
“The Cognosante team is thrilled to embark on this next chapter of our remarkable journey,” said Kang.
“I am grateful for the extraordinary group of past and present employees and clients who made Cognosante what it is today.”
Accenture Federal Services’ agreement with Google
AFS’ purchase of Cognosante follows its recent agreement with tech firm Google. The two firms have unveiled a new Data & Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence to revolutionize federal agencies through generative AI.
The solutions include advanced data and GenAI solutions, including Google Cloud’s GenAI technologies.
Accenture and Google’s collaboration aims to harness federal agencies’ vast data resources and provide them with the tools necessary for effective data management and AI deployment.
This partnership builds on the success of the Cybersecurity Center of Excellence launched in 2023, which focuses on enhancing federal agencies’ capabilities to counter cyber threats.
Accenture ranked #1 in the OA500 2024, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. This is the second year the company clinched the index’s top spot.
