Bangladesh’s BPO Summit to boost back office services, employment

DHAKA, BANGLADESH — A Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Summit in Bangladesh is kicking off on Tuesday, May 23, to promote back office services among local companies.
The Bangladesh Association of Contact Centre and Outsourcing (BACCO) organized the event in collaboration with the Business Promotion Council (BPC).
During a press conference, BACCO General Secretary Towhid Hossain expressed optimism about the growth of the BPO sector.
“By 2025, the BPO sector has a target of $1 billion in revenue. More [than] one lakh people will get new employment in this sector, and 1000 youth will be employed through the BPO Summit,” he stated.
Hossain also highlighted the importance of encouraging employment in native areas instead of solely in the capital city, Dhaka.
The conference will be inaugurated by State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak in Natore and will conclude on July 20 in Dhaka. The BPO Summit will include a career council, a seminar, and a job fair.
Currently, 35% of Bangladesh’s outsourcing services are performed for foreign markets, while 65% are for domestic markets. Officials reported that approximately 700,000 youths had been trained in the BPO sector.
