BI discloses new PH travel regulations

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) will no longer need an entry exemption document (EED) from foreign spouses, children, and parents of Filipino citizens upon entry to the Philippines starting August 1.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente stated that the new rule approved by the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) would only apply to foreign travelers who are unaccompanied by their Filipino spouses or parents.
“We welcome this latest ruling of the IATF as it will now be easier and convenient for foreigners whose Filipino spouses and children are currently in the Philippines to visit and reunite with their loved ones,” Morente said.
Previously, foreigners were only allowed entry into the country if they had valid 9(a) tourist visas and EED obtained from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) through its various embassies or consulates abroad.
