BPO industry drives social change with holistic innovations: OIR 2024
MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The finalists from Outsource Accelerator’s Outsource Impact Review (OIR) 2024 have raised the bar for corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, adopting holistic strategies to address societal challenges.
These initiatives span education, workforce welfare, and community development, reflecting a commitment to creating multidimensional solutions.
The judges praised the finalists for integrating efforts that uplift individuals and contribute to the broader well-being of communities.
Education initiatives address skill gaps and empower communities
Education remains a focal point of BPO CSR programs, with 42.1% of initiatives dedicated to this area.
Projects like Infosys BPM’s Project Genesis stood out for their measurable educational outcomes and innovative use of technology to bridge skill gaps. Judges commended its scalability and financial sustainability but suggested expanding partnerships and enhancing environmental considerations to amplify its impact.
Peta Bilton, Director and Impact Consultant at Known Impact, said that Infosys’ program “effectively integrates accessibility and varied engagement modes, establishing education as a cornerstone of social change.”
Similarly, Innodata’s CSR Education Support Program was lauded for its alignment with community needs and its ability to scale. However, judges recommended refining impact measurement frameworks and fostering innovation to adapt to evolving educational challenges.
By investing in programs that equip individuals with future-ready skills, companies can foster sustainable community growth while ensuring a competitive and adaptable workforce.
Community engagement creates lasting local impact
A standout feature of the finalists’ projects is their strong emphasis on community involvement. Judges noted how these initiatives respond directly to local needs, building trust and fostering meaningful relationships.
OP360 Cares by OfficePartners360, specifically, was highlighted for connecting education and community support while addressing local needs.
Aaron Wright, Director of Operations at Outsource Accelerator, noted that such initiatives “go beyond mere corporate responsibility” by creating meaningful connections with communities.
Innovative solutions redefine corporate social responsibility
Innovation also emerged as a key differentiator among the OIR 2024 finalists. Many projects leveraged technology and creative problem-solving to tackle persistent social issues in unique ways.
From digital literacy programs to AI-driven solutions for education and healthcare, these initiatives demonstrate how innovation can amplify impact and set new benchmarks for CSR excellence.
Programs like Outsourced’s Learning Hub showcased how technology can bridge educational gaps in underserved communities. Judges praised its scalability but recommended developing robust tracking systems for long-term outcomes and increasing professional development opportunities for educators.
Scaling BPO social impact for global change
The OIR 2024 highlights the need for the BPO industry to scale its social responsibility efforts further.
By adopting holistic approaches, focusing on education, fostering community involvement, and embracing innovation, companies can expand their societal contributions globally.
