BPOs eyeing long-term flexible work model

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) providers in the country are considering a long-term switch to a flexible working model due to its effectiveness during the pandemic.
In a recent event hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Remote Staff CEO Chris Jankulovksi said that this arrangement can help firms gain access to a wider talent pool, cut overhead costs, and promote more “productive lives” to their employees.
This comment was made as foreign businesses operating in the Philippines had to adopt working from home to maintain operations after quarantine restrictions were put in place to curb the COVID-19 virus.
DTI reported that other Australian BPOs are also looking at allowing their employees to work remotely on a permanent basis.
Earlier this month, the Fiscal Incentives Review Board extended the work-from-home arrangement of the Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry in the Philippines until March 31, 2022 due to the pandemic.
