Bulgarian HR startup raises nearly $2Mn in seed round

SOFIA, BULGARIA — nPloy, a recruitment platform likened to dating app Tinder, has secured €2 million (US$1.9 million) in a fresh seed round to be utilized in its continued expansion venture to the Romanian market.
The fresh investment was led by firms Morningside Hill VC and Blue Ocean ventures, the same investors that financed US$2.5 million in a seed round in 2022. The initial funding was also used for the company’s expansion to Romania.
nPloy’s co-founder Konstantin Tzonev revealed their plan for the next two years includes innovations which focus on expanding its job hunter base. The company expects its candidate pool to increase by 300% in Bulgaria and 1000% in Romania.
“We will not stop introducing more and more innovations, with which we not only facilitate the selection process, but also provide strategic analysis of trends and make the labor market more and more transparent and accessible,” Tzonev said.
The job hunting app allows both parties – the employer and applicant – to swipe left and right depending on their preferences. If both parties match, they could start the job application process.
Just like the dating app Tinder, nPloy programs its algorithms to find matches for the employer and applicant based on their profiles.
In addition, there are social tools that allow users to discuss their professional lives and prospects. There are various groups about different topics, and even an events section where users can organize online seminars.
As of 2022, nPloy has been downloaded 85,000 times and has more than 800 active jobs.
