93% of business leaders champion human oversight in AI
CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — A significant majority (93%) of business leaders believe human involvement is crucial in artificial intelligence (AI) decision-making.
In a study conducted by enterprise cloud applications provider Workday with 1,000 decision-makers globally, a robust usage of AI and machine learning (ML) was revealed, with over 90% of respondents confirming that they currently deploy these technologies in their operations.
Additionally, 80% acknowledged that AI and ML had improved work efficiency and decision-making, with the same percentage agreeing on the necessity of these technologies for maintaining competitiveness.
However, apprehensions about these technologies persist, particularly concerning their implementation and impact.
Notably, 77% were worried about the reliability and timeliness of the data used by AI and ML.
A skills gap was also evident, with 72% admitting their organizations lacked the necessary skills for complete AI and ML deployment.
Furthermore, 76% recognized their need to bolster their understanding of AI and ML applications.
“Enterprise organizations continue to lack the skills needed to implement the technology, and concerns around data integrity, ethics, and role elimination persist,” said Workday Chief Technology Officer Jim Stratton.
“Successful adoption of AI and ML [requires] a commitment to keeping humans in the decision-making loop and working with partners who are committed to responsible AI and maintaining data integrity,” he added.
