Capgemini expands semiconductor presence with HDL Design House
PARIS, FRANCE — IT consulting firm Capgemini announced the acquisition of HDL Design House, a leading provider of silicon design and verification services in Europe. The deal closed on September 27.
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Belgrade, Serbia, HDL Design House has approximately 300 highly skilled engineers experienced in delivering custom chip designs across industries.
Its clients complement Capgemini’s, including major semiconductor companies and original equipment manufacturers utilizing chips for intelligent, connected products.
Capgemini enables business and technology transformation for industry leaders by combining expertise in digital technologies to achieve outcomes related to performance, connectivity, sovereignty and sustainability. Silicon engineering services are central to this convergence.
The acquisition significantly expands Capgemini’s semiconductor presence in Europe, a key destination for the strategic industry.
Capgemini CEO William Roze stated the deal strengthens the company’s team and presence in Eastern Europe to meet rising global demand for the latest generation of high-performance, intelligent products.
“With digital now inside everything, semiconductors are at the heart of companies’ business transformations,” Roze said.
HDL President & CEO Predrag Markovic said joining Capgemini represents an exciting new chapter as the company becomes part of an important global organization.
Recent Capgemini acquisitions include Knowledge Expert SA and Exiger’s FCC division.
Besides acquisitions, the firm also heavily invests in artificial intelligence (AI). Capgemini announced it will invest €2 billion (US$2.1 billion) in AI over the next three years.
Capgemini, ranking #6 on the Time Doctor OA500 index, employs nearly 350,000 individuals across over 50 countries. Last year, the Group registered an impressive revenue of €22 billion (US$23 billion).
