CCI South Africa to create 2,500 jobs in 2023
CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA — Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) organization CCI South Africa is set to open 2,500 additional jobs this year, providing a glimmer of hope in South Africa’s 32.9% unemployment rate.
CCI South Africa CEO Peter Andrew revealed that the company intends to focus its new job creation in Johannesburg and Cape Town, spanning multiple industries like airlines and finance.
“By the end of 2023, we are hoping to double that, creating a total of 5,000 additional jobs in one company alone,” he added.
The BPO sector is a cornerstone of South Africa’s strategy to combat unemployment. The industry grew by 25% annually from 2015 to 2021 and is projected to expand by 9.4% from 2023 to 2030 and add 500,000 new jobs in the country.
“I think the BPO industry is one that will carry South Africa and Africa forward,” Andrew stated during a media tour of the CCI South Africa and CareerBox operations in Durban.
A distinguishing feature of CCI South Africa is its workforce diversity. The company boasts a 67% female staff and 52% female leadership. Partnering with CareerBox, CCI offers career training programs for young adults.
Remarkably, 98.5% of CCI’s staff are CareerBox graduates.
The BPO sector’s expansion is particularly significant for South Africa’s young population, promising entry-level jobs and career advancement avenues.
“We believe the youth of South Africa are uniquely equipped to deliver this through their inherent capacity for empathy and creating human connection,” Andrew concluded.
