ChatGPT’s voice and image features set to reshape AI landscape

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — OpenAI’s popular artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT is expanding with new voice and image capabilities.
The San Francisco-based company announced that users can now engage ChatGPT in voice conversations and share images to enhance interactions.
The new features will roll out over two weeks to ChatGPT’s paid Plus and Enterprise users first, before becoming available to all users soon after. The voice capability will launch on iOS and Android apps, while image functionality will be accessible across platforms.
“You can now use voice to engage in a back-and-forth conversation with your assistant,” the ChatGPT creator said in a blog post.
“Speak with it on the go, request a bedtime story for your family, or settle a dinner table debate.”
ChatGPT’s evolution comes as companies like Google, Meta, and Microsoft are rapidly developing their own AI chatbots, while Spotify utilizes OpenAI to power a new voice translation feature for podcasts.
Founded in 2015, OpenAI has pioneered groundbreaking AI systems like ChatGPT, which reached 100 million users faster than any other app in history. Backed by $1 billion in funding from Microsoft, the company is on track to generate over $1 billion in annual revenue.
