Corporate Technologies acquires RSPN, expands U.S. Midwest IT services reach
MINNESOTA, UNITED STATES — In a transformative move that ripples through the United States Midwest’s technology sector, Minnesota-based IT managed service provider Corporate Technologies has acquired RSPN, a veteran IT services firm serving Iowa’s Cedar Valley region.
The deal marks Corporate Technologies’ sixth acquisition and pushes its market presence into new territory.
Building a technology powerhouse
The transaction comes at a pivotal moment for both companies. While Corporate Technologies has been methodically expanding since its founding in 1981, this latest move represents its second acquisition since Tonka Bay Equity Partners took ownership last summer.
The company now serves over 1,400 clients across a dozen states, offering everything from cloud solutions to cybersecurity services.
Walking through RSPN’s offices in Cedar Falls, one immediately senses why this 30-year-old company caught Corporate Technologies’ attention. The walls showcase numerous industry certifications, while busy technicians navigate between workstations, supporting local businesses that have relied on RSPN’s expertise for decades.
Integration and growth prospects
Jim Griffith, who steers Corporate Technologies as CEO, couldn’t contain his enthusiasm about the merger.
“RSPN’s founders Mark and Mike have been dedicated to providing technology services to businesses in Iowa for over 30 years,” he noted.
“The significant growth of RSPN is a testament to their leadership and the service delivery team they built. We are excited to partner with them as we continue our growth in Iowa.”
RSPN’s leadership echoed this sentiment. Mark Stewart, who helped build RSPN from the ground up, reflected on the decision: “Our goal in selling was to find the right place for customers and employees. Corporate Technologies will provide significant resources and opportunities for both.”
His co-owner and company president Mike Place added a personal touch: “Corporate Technologies was an ideal fit for RSPN due to their focus on service delivery, customer focus, and employee experience.”
Industry analysts suggest this acquisition could trigger further consolidation in the region’s managed services sector. As businesses increasingly rely on outsourced IT support, providers with broader geographical reach and deeper technical resources stand to benefit most.
The integration process begins immediately, with Corporate Technologies planning to maintain RSPN’s local presence while gradually introducing its expanded service portfolio to Iowa clients. This careful approach aims to preserve the personal touch that made RSPN successful while leveraging Corporate Technologies’ U.S.-wide resources and expertise.
