TransPerfect acquires Plint’s Dutch studio facility
NEW YORK, UNITED STATES and AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS — A fresh wave of consolidation has swept through the European media localization landscape as language services company TransPerfect secured its latest acquisition. The company announced its purchase of a state-of-the-art dubbing and localization studio near Amsterdam, previously operated by Swedish tech firm Plint.
Amsterdam emerges as new media hub
Walking through the newly-rebranded TransPerfect Media Netherlands facility reveals cutting-edge capabilities that would make any content creator envious. The studio boasts pristine Dolby Atmos environments and HDR projection suites, alongside dedicated spaces for sound mixing, image post-production, and voice recording.
These technical assets strengthen TransPerfect’s European footprint at a crucial time when streaming platforms are racing to localize content for Dutch audiences.
The facility’s strategic location in the Netherlands’ media corridor positions TransPerfect to capture growing demand from both traditional broadcasters and digital platforms seeking high-end localization services. Industry watchers note that Amsterdam’s creative ecosystem and multilingual talent pool make it an ideal location for such specialized media operations.
Strategic realignment shapes industry future
Behind the deal lies a broader story of industry evolution. While TransPerfect expands its physical studio network, now spanning 16 countries, Plint aims to chart a different course focused on technology development.
“We are truly pleased to entrust our Dutch studio to TransPerfect,” remarked Plint CEO Åsa Zimmerman, explaining their strategic pivot. “Plint will now focus fully on a new suite of technology-enabled products designed to better meet our clients’ ever-evolving demand for high-quality localization services.”
TransPerfect’s leadership sees the acquisition as strengthening its local market presence. Phil Shawe, President and co-CEO, emphasized the strategic importance: “Amsterdam is a key hub for TransPerfect. This new studio will enable us to provide best-of-breed local solutions to our media and entertainment clients distributing content in [the] Netherlands.”
The transaction, whose financial terms remain undisclosed, reflects broader industry trends toward consolidation and technological advancement in media localization.
TransPerfect, which serves over 6,000 global organizations across 140 cities, continues to expand its footprint while Plint refocuses on developing innovative solutions for content creators.
Market analysts suggest this realignment could spark further consolidation in Europe’s fragmented media localization sector, as companies seek scale and technological capabilities to meet surging demand for multilingual content.
