DICT, Cisco signs MoU supporting hybrid work

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with networking solutions provider Cisco to support hybrid work arrangements in the Philippines.
According to the DICT, the deal is expected to boost the agency’s drive for hybrid and remote working in the country.
This comes as Cisco’s 2021 study showed that Filipinos benefited more from hybrid working compared to their ASEAN counterparts.
Productivity among Filipino workers improved by 75% compared to ASEAN’s 64%. At the same time, quality rose by 79% compared to the ASEAN record of 65%.
Meanwhile, job knowledge and skills improved 82%, compared to 66% of the rest of the region.
Filipinos also saw an increase in their savings — equivalent to P327,600 (US$5,559) — in just over 12 months of hybrid work.
As for internet connectivity problems, DICT Secretary Ivan Uy said that they will continue to work on addressing these problems to promote remote working even in far-flung provinces in the Philippines.
