Egypt launches MEA’s first Android automotive training program

CAIRO, EGYPT — Egypt has taken a groundbreaking step in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region by launching its first specialized Android Automotive training program.
This initiative, developed through a collaboration between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the Information Technology Institute (ITI), and DXC Luxoft, addresses the growing demand for skilled professionals in the automotive software sector.
Comprehensive program prepares engineers for software-defined vehicles
Launched in July 2024, the six-month training program equips engineers with cutting-edge skills to meet the needs of software-defined vehicles. The curriculum covers essential topics such as Linux, C++, Kotlin, cybersecurity, and platform integration, with a strong focus on Android Auto and Android Automotive OS.
The program’s first cohort of 28 graduates is now certified and employed at DXC Luxoft, showcasing the success of this public-private partnership in fostering innovation and creating high-value job opportunities.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to nurturing Egypt’s digital talent and strengthening our position as a global hub for high-value services in automotive software and beyond,” stated Dr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
Strategic vision: Empowering youth with future-ready skills
This program aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to empower its youth with future-ready skills while positioning itself as a leader in advanced technology sectors.
With over 730,000 university graduates annually — many specializing in IT and engineering — Egypt offers a competitive talent pool for global tech companies. Its proximity to Europe further enhances its appeal as a hub for scalable innovation.
DXC Luxoft’s decision to anchor its Android Automotive operations in Egypt underscores this strategic advantage.
“By tailoring programs like this, we are not only meeting industry demands but also positioning Egypt as a leader in this transformative field,” said Eng. Ahmed El Zaher, CEO of ITIDA.
Egypt’s role as a global tech and innovation hub
Beyond automotive software, Luxoft’s Cairo operations extend into cybersecurity testing and compliance, further solidifying Egypt’s role in the global technology landscape.
Certified by TÜV SÜD for Cybersecurity Management Systems (CSMS), Luxoft’s Cairo office is a center for advanced data protection solutions.
By continuously nurturing talent and attracting strategic investments, Egypt is driving growth in high-tech fields such as embedded systems, IC design, automotive software, and cybersecurity. This initiative cements its position as a competitive hub for innovation and future mobility solutions, contributing significantly to the global automotive industry transformation.
