Egypt launches ITIDA Gigs to train 20,000 freelancers
CAIRO, EGYPT — Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has announced the launch of ITIDA Gigs, an initiative designed to train 20,000 young Egyptians in freelancing skills.
This program, in collaboration with the EdTech startup EYouth, aims to prepare university students and fresh graduates for success in the global freelance market.
The initiative targets individuals aged 18 and above with basic knowledge in IT-related fields such as web development, data science, artificial intelligence (AI), digital marketing, and cybersecurity.
ITIDA Gigs focuses on bridging the gap between education and employment by equipping participants with essential skills like freelancing fundamentals, professional branding, marketing strategies, negotiation techniques, and project management.
Strategic goals to strengthen Egypt’s digital economy
Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, described the ITIDA Gigs initiative as a pivotal step toward expanding Egypt’s freelance market and boosting the national economy.
He explained that freelancing has become increasingly important for both individuals and businesses as the global job market undergoes rapid changes. According to El-Zaher, ITIDA Gigs aligns with a broader strategy to equip Egyptian youth with the competitive skills needed to earn sustainable incomes through digital platforms.
El-Zaher also underscored Egypt’s potential as a regional hub for digital skills development. “Our partnership with EYouth reflects our commitment to supporting innovative local startups. Through this initiative, we aim to build a skilled freelance workforce that boosts digital exports and strengthens Egypt’s digital economy,” he added.
Comprehensive training with AI-powered tools and resources
The 15-month program will consist of 20 training cohorts, each accommodating 1,000 participants. It offers expert-led guidance sessions, interactive webinars, performance dashboards, and free educational resources.
AI-powered tools will enhance the learning experience by providing proposal analysis and feedback. Participants who complete the program will receive accredited certifications, marking their readiness for freelance opportunities on leading platforms.
EYouth partnership: Building a competitive freelance workforce
EYouth CEO Mustafa Abd El-Latif expressed excitement about the collaboration: “We are proud to collaborate with ITIDA on this pioneering initiative, which reflects our commitment to empowering youth through technology-driven education.”
“With our extensive experience in training over 3 million learners, we aim to build a strong freelance community that positions Egypt as a leading country with competitive talents on the global stage,” he added.
Driving innovation through job creation
By leveraging technology-driven education and fostering partnerships across regions, ITIDA Gigs seeks to create non-traditional job opportunities while enhancing Egypt’s position in the global freelance market.
The initiative not only addresses unemployment but also supports innovation by building a vibrant digital economy powered by skilled freelancers.
Interested applicants can register through the official ITIDA Gigs platform, marking a significant step toward empowering Egyptian youth and advancing the nation’s digital transformation goals.
