EY GDS to hire 500 in new Cebu delivery center

CEBU, PHILIPPINES — EY Global Delivery Services (GDS), the shared services arm of professional services firm EY, plans to hire 500 employees over the next three years for its new delivery center in Cebu Business Park.
EY chose Cebu because of the availability of accounting and IT talent in the area. The new hires will work with EY client service teams globally to drive innovation and develop solutions.
Mukul Pachisia, EY GDS Global Operations Leader, said “The highly skilled and diverse professionals from the region will raise the bar in terms of service quality.”
EY GDS provides services like assurance, tax, transactions, and consulting to companies worldwide. It began operations in the Philippines in 2015 with 25 employees in Manila. The workforce has since grown to 5,000 across the country.
The new Cebu delivery center, EY’s second site in the Philippines, signifies the firm’s confidence in the local workforce and business environment. It is expected to boost Cebu’s economy by creating high-value jobs in the knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) sector.
Nitin Dhavale, EY GDS Philippines Location Leader, said Cebu was chosen for its supply of accounting and IT graduates from prestigious universities. EY aims to partner with schools on curriculum design to develop job-ready graduates.
Adeline Lumbres, EY GDS Philippines Assurance Leader, noted that Filipinos excel in KPO due to talent, English proficiency, and resilience.
While migration of top talent overseas poses a challenge, EY said it is prepared to invest in training and development initiatives to upskill employees and provide global mobility opportunities within its network.
