Fiji’s BPO sector secured contracts worth over 5K

The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry in Fiji has been able to secure over 5,000 outsourcing contracts in the country, said Executive Director for the BPO Council Shagufta Janif.
Despite the pandemic, Janif disclosed that some BPO companies doubled their workforce compared to the pre-second COVID wave period in Fiji. She expects to reach the 6,000 employment mark “very soon”.
Janif also added that the BPO Council has asked for the government’s support in promoting Fiji as an ideal outsourcing destination because of its lucrative tax rebate initiatives.
The council is also requesting the creation of Special Economic Zones for the BPO and ICT sector to drive more investment and the implementation of stronger Data Protection and Privacy Laws in the country.
