First Focus expands in Australia through Section Group acquisition

NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA — First Focus, an Australian managed service provider, has strengthened its Victorian presence by acquiring Melbourne-based technology company Section Group.
The deal marks First Focus’s third acquisition in 2024, expanding its workforce to over 300 employees across multiple countries.
Strategic growth and capabilities
The acquisition of Section Group, founded in 2011, adds website design and digital marketing capabilities to First Focus’s existing portfolio of IT services. Section Group’s expertise in developing high-functioning websites and strategic marketing campaigns complements First Focus’s comprehensive technology solutions.
“After seeing the growth First Focus has achieved and learning about their approach to acquisitions, I felt they had the right mix of people and services to add value to our customers,” said Natalie Hallett, chief executive officer of Section Group.
First Focus, established in 2003, has built a robust presence serving more than 35,000 end-users across hundreds of customers. The company, with an annual revenue of $67 million, operates from its Sydney headquarters with an international network spanning Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Ireland, and South Africa.
Market leadership and integration
First Focus provides comprehensive IT solutions, particularly for mid-sized businesses with 20 or more staff. It offers technical account management and proactive advisory services.
Ross Sardi, CEO of First Focus, emphasized the alignment of values between the two companies: “We’re always looking to bring on businesses that share our values, and when Natalie approached us after hearing about our recent acquisitions, it quickly became clear that Section Group was an ideal fit.”
This acquisition follows First Focus’s recent purchases of Adelaide IT and development company Enee in February 2024, and Melbourne MSP Rock IT in December 2023. The financial terms of the Section Group acquisition remain undisclosed.
