GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO — Remote job postings rose 33% in the third quarter of 2026 from the second quarter, the third consecutive quarter of growth in fully remote listings. Operations and customer service roles grew fastest, while entry-level jobs remained the smallest share of work-from-home openings.
Operations and customer service lead
FlexJobs reported the findings in its Remote Work Index for Q3 2026, released on Oct. 29 and published by Allwork.Space. The job site analyzed remote postings from more than 60,000 companies in its database between July 1 and Sept. 30.
Operations posted the highest growth rate at 52%, followed by customer service at 47% and project management at 44%. Engineering and business development each grew 41%.
Project management remained the largest remote career field by total posting volume, followed by computer and IT, sales, operations and business development. Education and training grew the least, at 19%, while medical and health rose 29%, communications 31% and sales 34%.
Healthcare companies accounted for a primary share of active remote postings in the quarter, according to FlexJobs. The top employers posting remote positions included Everforth, UnitedHealth Group, Actalent, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Humana, Allstate, CVS Health and Abbott Laboratories.
A third straight quarter of growth
The third-quarter increase extended growth in fully remote job postings to three consecutive quarters, according to FlexJobs.
“Despite all the noise about return-to-office mandates, the actual jobs data we’re seeing tells a different story,” said Keith Spencer, career expert at FlexJobs.
“Three consecutive quarters of remote job growth prove that work-from-home careers remain a powerful differentiator across industries,” he said.
Few openings for beginners
Remote postings stayed concentrated in experienced and leadership roles. Experienced positions made up 63% of postings, managers 21% and senior managers 10%, while entry-level roles accounted for 6%.
FlexJobs said the pattern follows trends from previous quarters, with entry-level positions holding the smallest share of work-from-home jobs.
What it means for employers
FlexJobs’ data puts operations and customer service at the top of remote work hiring growth this quarter, ahead of project management, the largest remote field by volume.
