Formix wins two Australian IT contracts for Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, SRI LANKA — Formix has secured contracts with two Australian companies to build and support professional information technology (IT) teams in Sri Lanka, representing the staffing firm’s first confirmed client engagements since launching its Sri Lanka workforce initiative earlier in 2026.

The client names have not been disclosed. Formix cited non-disclosure agreements with both companies in announcing the contracts.

Two Australian IT deals create employment across technology functions

The engagements reflect growing demand among Australian businesses for technology talent sourced from Sri Lanka, where Formix provides executive search, recruitment, remote staffing, and outsourcing support across more than 150 countries.

Roles expected to be filled through the contracts include software developers, quality assurance professionals, business analysts, IT support specialists, project coordinators, and cybersecurity professionals.

The two contracts move Formix from the early-stage investor discovery model described in its previous initiative toward an active commercial relationship, with Australian clients now committing to building Sri Lanka-based technology teams.

Formix said each international staffing engagement creates direct employment for Sri Lankan IT professionals while connecting local talent with businesses operating in international markets.

Foreign business revenue enters the Sri Lanka economy through salaries and services

When an overseas company hires Sri Lankan professionals through a staffing partner, the economic impact extends beyond the initial headcount: salaries paid to local employees circulate through the domestic economy, and international business process outsourcing (BPO) activity creates additional demand for professional services and supporting industries.

Sri Lanka’s combination of English-language proficiency, IT qualification rates, and cost structure makes it a credible alternative for Australian businesses seeking to expand technical capacity without the complexity of establishing a local legal entity.

For Australian companies, building teams in Sri Lanka through a staffing partner such as Formix provides qualified IT talent access and flexibility to scale technical operations in line with actual project demand rather than domestic hiring timelines.

Formix said its international workforce solutions business is expected to continue creating new employment opportunities in Sri Lanka as more organizations explore international staffing and workforce expansion models.

For operators evaluating Sri Lanka as an IT and offshore delivery destination, Formix’s Australian contracts signal that international demand for the country’s technology workforce has moved beyond exploratory assessment toward active hiring commitments.

Each incremental contract win builds the track record that makes Sri Lanka a more defensible choice for the next wave of Australian operators evaluating offshore technology staffing.
