COLOMBO, SRI LANKA — Formix has secured contracts with Australian companies to build professional information technology (IT) teams in Sri Lanka, with the engagements expected to create approximately 35 roles across initial two-year terms.

Neither company is named in the announcement for commercial confidentiality reasons.

Engagements span digital marketing and SaaS, each with distinct IT role profiles

The first engagement is with an Australian digital marketing company. Formix expects to hire approximately 15 professionals for the Sri Lanka team under a two-year initial contract, with roles including business analysts, help desk support specialists, and front-end developers.

The second engagement is with an Australian software-as-a-service (SaaS) business, also on a two-year initial term, with approximately 20 roles planned.

Both clients have indicated they intend to grow their Sri Lanka teams past 50 staff within two to three years, an expectation that reflects the early trajectory of each relationship rather than a contractual commitment.

Formix is an international workforce solutions and executive search company, ranked number one in Sri Lanka by Clutch.co and The Manifest, with outsourcing and workforce expansion operations spanning Sri Lanka, India, Maldives, Bangladesh, and Australia.

“Sri Lanka has a significant pool of capable IT talent, but the country needs more IT investment. There is talent available, but not enough international investment creating opportunities at the scale the market is capable of supporting,” said Ramesh Jayanithu, founder and CEO of Formix.

International partnerships bring revenue, career pathways, and sector development to Sri Lanka

When an overseas company builds a team of Sri Lankan professionals through a global talent solutions provider, foreign business revenue enters the local economy through employee salaries and the additional demand created for professional services and supporting industries.

Sri Lanka’s English-language proficiency, qualified technology workforce, and cost structure competitive with other international IT markets position the country as a relevant offshore destination for Australian businesses expanding technical capacity.

For Sri Lankan IT professionals, international client engagements create pathways into technical leadership and management roles within global organizations, expanding career development beyond the initial positions hired.

Formix said its international workforce solutions business is expected to continue creating employment opportunities in Sri Lanka as more organizations across the business process outsourcing (BPO) and technology sectors explore global talent solutions and workforce expansion.

Formix says the arrangement lets Australian businesses build teams in Sri Lanka across multiple IT disciplines without setting up a local legal entity.

For Sri Lanka, sustained international IT client engagement creates a pathway for expanding professional employment and bringing foreign business revenue into the local economy.
