Globe, Aboitiz InfraCapital, Frontier Tower to build telecom towers
Globe Telecom has partnered with Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. and Frontier Tower Associates Philippines (FTAP) Group to build cell sites and towers for lease in Cebu, Davao and Olongapo, in support of the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) common tower initiatives.
Globe president Ernest L. Cu said the company’s collaboration with tower experts will enable it to fast-track the development of cell sites and towers in unserved and underserved areas, and congested urban centers.
Meanwhile, Aboitiz InfraCapital COO Cosette V. Canilao said the partnership will enable them to build the right infrastructure that will advance the digitization of businesses and communities. She added that the project will expand the local telecommunication industry’s existing coverage and capacity as the towers will also be leased to other players. FTAP chair Patrick Tangney believes the collaboration will allow them to facilitate the rapid development of infrastructure for use by Globe and other operators. Globe is the first Philippine telecommunications firm to partner with independent tower operators for its network buildup.
