India IT services hiring to grow 10-12%: Quess Corp
NEW DELHI, INDIA — India’s IT services sector is set for a significant hiring increase, with projections indicating a 10% to 12% growth in the next six months.
According to a recent report by business services provider Quess Corp, this surge is driven by rapid technological advancements that are reshaping industries and economies globally.
Emerging technologies drive demand
The report highlighted the transformative impact of emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), deep technology, and quantum computing. These innovations are expected to create over a million jobs by 2030.
In the second quarter of Fiscal 2025, demand for talent in global capability centers (GCCs) and cybersecurity surged by 71% and 58%, respectively, compared to the previous quarter.
Kapil Joshi, CEO of Quess IT Staffing, emphasized India’s pivotal role in this digital revolution: “India, with its burgeoning tech talent pool and innovative spirit, is at the forefront of this digital revolution.”
Rising demand for key skills
The IT Staffing Quarterly Digital Skills Report for the second quarter of Fiscal 2025 revealed that 79% of aggregate demand stemmed from five key skill areas: development, enterprise resource planning (ERP), testing, networking, and data science.
Additionally, there was a notable increase in demand for specialized roles related to Java (30%), cybersecurity (20%), and DevOps (25%).
Sector-specific trends and geographic insights
Distinct trends were identified across various sectors. IT services firms led with a 37% increase in technology talent demand, followed by Hi-Tech and consulting sectors at 11% each.
The manufacturing and banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sectors also showed growth of 9% and 8%, respectively.
Geographically, Bengaluru emerged as the epicenter of tech hiring in India, accounting for an impressive 62% of hiring requests. It was followed by the West (14%), North (8%), and East (0.4%).
Hyderabad and Pune also showed significant demand shares at 43.5% and 10%, respectively.
Expansion into tier II and III cities
The expansion of GCCs in India has fueled a surge in talent demand across various cities. Companies are increasingly focusing on hiring skilled professionals from fields like engineering, IT, finance, and analytics.
This trend has led firms to tap into talent pools from tier II and III cities, further broadening the scope of employment opportunities across the country.
Overall, India’s IT services sector is poised for robust growth as it navigates through technological advancements and increasing global demand for digital expertise.
