Indian companies now offering WFH allowance

The work-from-home (WFH) setup in India has its fair share of hiccups, but employers are taking steps to make remote work easier for employees as part of the “new normal.”
After Google announced a few months ago that it would give every employee $1,000 to buy necessary equipment and office furniture, several Indian startups have also introduced benefits to improve staff productivity and motivation.
Edtech startup Great Learning will give a monthly COVID-19 allowance of Rs 1,000, while Springworks gave a one-time allowance of up to Rs 25,000 for a home setup, with monthly internet reimbursements of Rs 1,500.
“These are small amounts of money we are talking about, so the question is what would you rather have: an employee who is in discomfort or motivated?,” said Great Learning’s people operations director Karthik G.
