Indian IT firm secures UK land digitization contract

Indian IT outsourcing provider Cyient announced that they had won a contract to support a major land records digitization drive in the United Kingdom.
The IT firm, along with its partners for the project – geospatial data and software provider Esri UK and documentation specialist Xerox – will assist Her Majesty’s Land Registry, UK’s land records bureau, in digitizing about 26 million titles. This will account for around 87% of the landmass in England and Wales.
As per the contract, Cyient will supply all “spatial capture and improvement services as well as textual capture” in a configured and customized version of the Esri SWEET software package.
Meanwhile, Xerox will use its “Capture and Content Services” to automatically register and confirm data from digital and physical local land charge records.
The size and financial details of the deal were not disclosed to the public.
