India’s IT-BPM sector to grow to add 375K jobs in FY22

India’s Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry is forecasted to add 375,000 new jobs in March 2022, according to the Digital Employment Outlook Report by staffing firm TeamLease Digital.
The survey, conducted with more than 100 employers, showed that IT contract staffing will gain a 17% growth in the market and is expected to reach a headcount of 148,000 employees in the same period.
Most employers in the country are also looking for employees with digital skills — with 13 skill sets expected to record a 7.5% growth in FY22 compared to the previous fiscal year.
Contract staffing for digital skills is also projected to increase by 50% by March next year, up 19% compared to FY21.
As for the skills gap in the sector, the majority of the companies are opting to upskill their employees with or without certification (70-75%).
Meanwhile, other employers are looking to create a talent pipeline from fresh graduates (10-15%), embrace contract staffing (5-10%), and cross-train workers from other domains (5%).
TeamLease Digital Head – Specialized Staffing – Sunil C added that India’s IT-BPM industry will likely reach a “10 million employee base” over the next five years.
