Iriga City targets outsourcing locators with new building

Iriga City in the province of Camarines Sur is hoping to attract outsourcing companies to locate in the city as soon as the planned Information Communications Technology (ICT) building is finished. The ICT building, which will be built in a seven-hectare lot in Barangay Sta. Cruz, forms part of the local government’s efforts to spur job creation in the city. Iriga City mayor Madelaine Alfelor said the city needs the ICT building to make it a new destination for outsourcing investments. The new ICT building is expected to generate about 1,000 jobs in the business process outsourcing industry. Alfelor said local government and private sector stakeholders will work together to further market Iriga City as a top IT-BPM destination. Works on the ICT building is expected to start in the later part of this month or in early June.
