IT initiatives seen to boost Pakistan’s digital hub goal
ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN — Syed Amin ul Haque, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunication, said that several strategic IT initiatives — including promoting the sector, freelancers, and startups — are transforming Pakistan into a global digital hub.
During his address at the GITEX Africa Summit, the minister shared that they are “working round the clock” to achieve the government’s Digital Pakistan program’s goals and drive the country’s entrepreneurial innovation, productivity, and economic growth.
The minister added that Pakistan’s attendance at the summit is to inform possible investors about initiatives and various policies, including Cyber Security, Freelancers Policy, and Personal Data Protection Bill.
“Pakistan is emerging as an important center of IT where wide opportunities and incentives are available for international investors.”
Haque also highlighted the importance of start-ups by calling them innovation centers that open more career opportunities for Pakistani employees.
He also emphasized that a thriving start-up ecosystem contributes to a robust economy, promoting the growth of the cities where these start-ups are located.
With Pakistan being home to talented professionals across various fields, start-ups provide a crucial platform for them to demonstrate their abilities, attracting multinational companies to invest in the country.
The minister also mentioned that National Incubation Centers (NIC) across Pakistan are actively working to boost start-ups and facilitate youth starting their own businesses.
