Microsoft launches new AI tool to Viva

WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES — Multinational tech company Microsoft released its AI tool called Copilot for its employee experience platform Viva.
According to the firm, Copilot in Viva “is built on the Microsoft 365 Copilot System to give leaders an entirely new way to understand and engage their workforce.”
“We think building Copilot into the flow of work is important,” said Microsoft Experiences and Devices Group CVP and COO Kirk Koenigsbauer.
Copilot uses generative AI to provide automated suggestions for responses to emails, messages, and other communications. The tool can also help employees to write more effective emails and to learn about the best practices for communication within their organization.
It runs through the company’s OpenAI implementation built on Azure, which Koenigsbauer said brings the “commercial rigor” organizations want — compliance, management, and security capabilities.
“That’s a key thing for these organizations because they’re not going to want their data out on the public internet,” he said.
Koenigsbauer added that data used as prompts in Copilot does not stick around “doesn’t stick around… and doesn’t leak outside of the organization,” promising a secure experience to users.
