MVB Bank taps Bretton AI to run its back office

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — MVB Bank, a subsidiary of MVB Financial Corp. and a national provider of banking services to fintech, payments, and gaming companies, has selected Bretton AI to run its anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) back-office compliance operations under a multi-year agreement, the company announced.
Bretton AI to manage MVB’s fintech compliance workload
Bretton AI’s Managed Services platform pairs a dedicated operations team based in the United States with artificial intelligence (AI)-native automation, delivering outcome-based back-office outsourcing for compliance work charged per alert or case rather than by analyst headcount.
According to the press release, for MVB Bank, Bretton AI will complete AML transaction monitoring, KYC alerts and cases, and enhanced due diligence work in line with MVB’s policies and risk framework.
“MVB built a national fintech business on top of a community bank, and that growth brings increasingly complex compliance demands. Bretton AI gives us a way to scale monitoring and due-diligence capacity while keeping MVB in control of the program, its decisions and its filings. That allows our team to focus on the highest-risk work, support responsible growth, and advance our broader AI strategy,” said Julie O’Connor, Chief Compliance Officer at MVB Bank.
“MVB is showing what it looks like to scale a sophisticated fintech business without recreating the same labor-heavy operating model around it. Bretton brings the platform and the operating team together in one accountable service. We perform the work under MVB’s policies and standards, while MVB remains in control of its risk program,” said Rick Shooman, Managing Director and Head of Services at Bretton AI.
MVB Bank was founded in 1999 and has built a national fintech, payments, and gaming client portfolio on a community banking base headquartered in Fairmont, West Virginia.
The Bretton AI Managed Services launch positions the platform as an AI-native alternative to traditional headcount-based compliance outsourcing for banks and fintech firms scaling their regulatory workloads.
For the business process outsourcing (BPO) and financial services sector, MVB’s deal with Bretton AI reflects growing demand for AI-native back-office compliance services that replace headcount-heavy models with automated platforms.
Banks serving high-volume fintech clients face growing compliance workloads as transaction volumes and KYC reviews scale faster than in-house teams can absorb, creating demand for managed services that scale without proportional headcount growth.
Bretton AI’s outcome-based pricing is part of a structural shift by AI outsourcing companies that charge per completed case, aligning cost to work delivered rather than to analyst headcount.
