Pakistan to outsource cargo terminal operations from UAE

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN — Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to outsource the operations of bulk and general cargo terminals at Pakistan’s East Wharf Karachi Port.
According to reports, the MoU aims to strengthen the economic ties and trade between the two countries. Under the deal, UAE’s Abu Dhabi Ports Group will operate cargo terminals within seven berths of the Karachi Port to boost efficiency.
The agreement will also help cement bilateral cooperation across aviation, tourism, infrastructure, and investments. With over 1.6 million Pakistanis in UAE sending home $4.6 billion in remittances, both nations seek closer relations.
At the signing ceremony, Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed his satisfaction with the growth of exchanges, interaction, and cooperation between businesses across the two nations.
Kakar also acknowledged the long-standing brotherly ties between UAE and Pakistan, emphasizing their continuous strengthening. He assured the government’s commitment to facilitating closer ties between businessmen and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both nations.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi expressed his to further enhance trade relations between UAE and Pakistan in the coming years.
